27 and 26 days to go - Script nearly locked

Sorry for no update yesterday folks. I was having a small amount of time off of film duties to play a gig with my band, Puppet Tears. We recorded a couple of songs a few months ago and they are finally up on Myspace if you are interested.

I have been continuing to work away on the script the last couple of days and have made some good progress. Today I had a mini-eureka moment. There is a part in the script where I had written it in such a way that the previous scene hadn't actually happened. Basically he had just been given something and in the next scene he is completely oblivious to this happening. I can't believe that I missed such an obvious point and I think this is a good lesson to keep going over the screenplay and the story that you are telling.

We are shooting out of sequence so if I hadn't spotted that today then we probably wouldn't have spotted it until post production when it would hopefully have become apparent in the edit of the film. Trying to get a final version of the script ready by Friday this week. I don't know about you but as a writer I always feel the desire to continually evolve the story as my mind thinks about it more and more. Unfortunately on a low budget feature film with an extremely tight shooting schedule there is not room for rewrites up to the last minute and throughout the shoot although I think that some will inevitably happen.

The coolest point of the day was when myself and Sam visited a potential sound engineer who might be joining the project. Hopefully we can confirm him and some other positions imminently. The sound engineer had his own 5.1 cinema set up where he was showing us some clips of films he has worked on. I think me and Sam could have stayed there all night to watch films not least for the free jelly beans that he offered us. I think we both had a few sweets too many but feel better now!

Things are really happening now and I can feel like its going to sky rocket over the next few weeks as we get more crew on board and actually working on the project day to day! Woo hoo... can't wait!
