Today has been a bit of a mixture of different things for me. It all started with the realisation that some people are actually reading these diary entries. After yesterdays blog I got a couple of emails about the final draft length of a script and I suddenly realised that people might actually be reading what I am writing. Up until then and even now I have been writing the blog entries without really thinking this. So if you are reading I hope that they are at least mildly entertaining.
So apart from this realisation I spent this morning looking over casting options for three of the supporting roles in the film. We have Bookworm Man who book-ends the film and interacts with Ailidh in the bookshop. This character is really important to me as he embodies the overall message of the film which is that there is always people out there who appreciate you for what you are.
The other characters are Norman who works in an art supplies shop and has a crush on Ailidh. For me he is like your best friend who is really funny and amazing but clams up whenever girls that he likes are around. I really like him and was thinking today that I wish he had a bigger role but perhaps there is room for a spin off film!
The last one is Naked Man who is a model in a life art drawing class that Jacob and Ailidh attend. I have a picture of an older man who is modeling for the class but really he is totally bored and treats it like he is washing up the dishes. The casting of this part is going to be interesting. After chatting with Sam the other day it donned on me that during the auditions we are going to have to make the guy strip off, at least to his underwear. Glad I realised that now than when we are at the audition.
So I selected a few contenders for these roles and sent them off to Sam to chase down the agents to see if any of the actors are interested in joining our project.
Then I moved onto the script. Today was better than yesterday but basically what I did was get a whole list of changes pulled together and tomorrow I am going to choose which ones will hopefully enhance the script and which ones will get left on paper.
I also registered for VAT online today as well. This has got to be the highlight of my day. It was really exciting filling in that form.
